Take Your Best Shot
Trauma plates, which are hard or soft plates you can put in your plate
carrier apparel that may offer you some additional protection. Now in
the past there's been a variety of
different types of trauma plates. Some of you all that have been around
for a little while may own a K plate from Second Chance. I don't believe
Second Chance makes this anymore. They were purchased a number of years
ago. They're part of the whole Safari Land conglomerate now.
The ACU Strike plate carrier Harness, have heavy duty hook and loop
flaps that hold up the ten by twelve inch ballistic plates. Some plate
carrier comes covered with M.O.L.L.E webbing for modular pouch
attachments. This is just a strong and comfortable harness to get into,
highly recommended. The K-30 plates are still excellent, but if you want
to go with something that is going to stop rifle rounds, the theta
plate is your choice. It's very affordable but it is heavy. you can get
this for less than $100. At that price, at this weight, there really is
no excuse for you to not come out of pocket to get one of these. This
could actually save your life if you do get shot. Even if your vest
would have normally stopped the round, this is going to go a long way in
speeding your recovery because the damage from the blunt force is much
less.
